Prior to entering the Civil Engineering field, I worked in university research labs and was
involved in some of the first studies on the fate of pharmaceuticals in the environment in the late
1990s. With my scientific background, I will be able to engage in the technical aspects of the
Nutrient Management Strategy, as well as understand other important developing technical
issues, such as toxicity, CECs, and ongoing issues such as selenium and pathogen regulation.
Through my consulting engineering work with Carollo Engineers and Patricia McGovern
Engineers, I also have experience in water and wastewater planning, which allows me to
understand the interface between regulatory pressures and our member agencies’ management
challenges.

Since I began as Regulatory Program Manager in 2012, BACWA has been expanding its
administrative scope by entering new collaborations and taking on new projects of special
benefit. Given that we have three staff, we do an excellent job at successfully managing our
administrative requirements, while complying with the Brown Act. If selected as Executive
Director, I will have that existing institutional knowledge of our organization and will be able to
hit the ground running.
