           .VICE PRESIDENT ‐ GLOBAL BUSINESS PRACTICES ‐ 2008 ‐ 2015
             Served in a key liaison role and primary contact between Finance, Legal, and Cengage’s International
               operations. Led efforts to reorganize and streamline business processes with Cengage’s International
               offices.
             Led Cengage’s anti‐piracy efforts. Investigated and brought piracy cases forward to a cross‐publishing industry
               anti‐piracy working group eventually leading to recoveries of $30M+ from known counterfeiters.  Served on the
               American Association of Publishers (AAP) International Copyright Protection Committee.
             Managed a Compliance/Data Analytics team to track worldwide compliance of Cengage’s intellectual
               property (IP) agreements. Provided evidence in multiple lawsuits to support Cengage’s position.
               Recommended and implemented changes to IP contractual language and Cengage’s procurement
               practices which resulted in significantly reducing Cengage’s risk of possible breach of its IP agreements.
           VICE PRESIDENT – FINANCE OPERATIONS ‐ 2001 – 2008
             Led Inventory Management team for a $650M group of businesses. Reduced inventory obsolescence by $30M+.
             Played instrumental role in the due diligence activities leading to the sale of Cengage Learning (formerly, part of
               Thomson‐Reuters Corporation) to a private equity firm.
             Developed methodology for analyzing and rationalizing the company’s product portfolio to support the
               consideration of new acquisitions or divestitures.
             Operationalized new business strategies including e‐commerce initiatives, while ensuring that accounting,
               financial reporting, business systems and Sarbanes‐Oxley requirements were being addressed.

            DIRECTOR OF FINANCE ‐ 1999‐2001
             Led best practices initiatives including the design and roll‐out of a product planning and budgeting
               software/system across all of Cengage’s businesses. Played lead role in the integration of a $150 million
               competitor.
            CONTROLLER – Gale (part of Thomson Learning)  ‐ 1997‐1999
             Directed all accounting, financial reporting, budgeting and financial functions including cash management,
               royalty accounting, and tax as well as facilities and purchasing.  Supervised, mentored, and motivated a
               Finance team of 20 plus employees.

           ENVIROTEST SYSTEMS CORP., Sunnyvale, California                                         1996 – 1997

           Corporate Controller
             Responsible for accounting and financial functions including cash management and treasury, financial
               planning and analysis, and SEC reporting for a $140M public company. Managed the restructuring of the
               company’s balance sheet and debt and equity structure resulting in a significant increase in shareholder value
               and leading to the eventual sale of the company.

           Controller
             Assisted early stage start‐up in completing $8M venture financing round.  Implemented initial accounting,
               budgeting, and reporting systems, human resource and infrastructure set‐up.
