1. Why are you interested in the YPCE Director opportunity with the City of Sacramento? Why are you

Has heart and passion for community. opportunities in park and rec is where she wants to be. Her
husband is working for the State and have had to have a second home in Sac. Has had family there
and used to visit a lot in her childhood, nostalgic. Was impressed with the strategic plan.

2. Please describe your most recent position and day­to­day responsibilities.
City of Dinuba Parks and Community Services Director from 1999­2010; opened new parks and a golf
course, renovated an abandoned bowling center as part of creating a downtown entertainment
district; prepared her in that she had to deal with limited resources by virtue of being a smaller
community, had to be efficient and leverage partners and resources. City of Sanger at the CMs office;
had an internal impact with the executive team, had 3 different CMs, 2 different Finance Directors,
and others, she helped to keep the continuity as it was a volatile time. Fresno PARCS Director
currently, believes strongly in developing people and team—she facilitates a leadership team for the
region.

5 Direct reports, parks, admin manager, projects manager, senior admin analyst, Exec assistant; parks
and administration are under her; community and rec report to the Directors, she reports to the
director.
Position Specific Questions

4. Describe your experience with each of the three areas of the department: Youth, Parks, and
Community Engagement.

Youth: In Dinuba built youth programming and a youth commission, pulled the Sheriff and others to
take a collaborative approach to building services, helping with education, skills for employment;
outlined the core focal points for the youth commission; fun activities to keep the kids busy and
focused on good staff members to offer membership; partnered with the school district and the
chamber of commerce along with community and church leaders to go through character count
training.
Parks: In Dinuba and Fresno has been focused on new parks development. As a department they have
20­40 CIPs going from renovations to complete replacements, working on putting together the 5 year
CIP plan which Fresno did not have; going to use prop 68 money and uses CDBG moneys effectively;
Fresno struggled with deferred maintenance, just completed master plan and have 128M of needs;
