90. THE CITY (AL-BALAD)

In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful
1 I swear by this city— and you the freeing of a slave; 14 or the

are dwelling in this city— and feeding in times of famine of

to you what the ascent is? It is on them.
91. THE SUN (AL-SHAMS)
In the name of God, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful

1 By the sun and its rising it and by the earth and how He

brightness and by the moon as spread it, by the soul and how

it follows it, and by the day as He formed it, then inspired it to

it reveals its glory and by the understand what was right and

night when it draws a veil over wrong for it. He who purifies it

it, by the sky and how He built will indeed be successful, and
