Tips to Remember While
Preparing Your Hair Masks
All the recipes in this book are extremely simple to follow and prepare. Most hair
masks require just two or more ingredients, and can be whipped up in under ten
minutes from start to finish. The longest part in your hair therapy process is waiting
for the mask to work its magic on your scalp and mane.
However easy this indulgent process may be, there are some tips that you should
remember while preparing and using your masks. Following these will help you
achieve that glossy head of hair in no time!
1. Purchase organic fruits, vegetables, honey, milk and yogurt for your masks as
these have the highest nutritional value.
2. When you buy your vitamin E rich oils and essential oils for the hair masks,
ensure that they have not been extracted through industrial means, but
are pure organic extracts.
3. Wash all your fresh produce before you use them as they have been sprayed
with pesticides.
4. Most of the hair masks recipes will call for the use of some kind of vitamin E
rich oil to add moisture. These oils are avocado, sweet almond, jojoba,
coconut, grapeseed, and castor. If you do not have a particular oil
mentioned in the recipe, you can substitute it for any of these oils for
similar therapeutic benefits.
5. Some recipes call for the use of aloe Vera gel. It is most convenient to grow and
use your own aloe Vera, but if you do not have one, simply buy it! You
can get fresh aloe Vera gel or juice at your local health store.
6. Some hair masks ask you to use coconut milk for its conditioning properties. It
is best to use fresh coconut milk, not the canned variety. If you cannot
find fresh milk, simply prepare you own milk by grating the flesh from the
coconut and pounding with small amounts of water to extract the milk.
You can prepare large batches of this milk and keep it in the refrigerator.
7. If preparing fresh coconut milk is also too tedious for you, simply substitute it
with almond or soy milk.
8. Test your skin for any allergies or sensitivity to essential oils before you use
them on your skin, as some oils may cause irritation to certain types of
skin.
9. All the recipes in this book have measurements to whip up one hair mask. You
can use these proportions as a guideline and prepare bigger batches to
store in the refrigerator for further use.
10. When you apply your hair masks, it is best to dampen you hair slightly with
some water. This allows the mask to seep through your scalp and hair
follicles better.
