Experiential Learning Portfolio Guide Credit
If a student successfully earns credit, this will appear as transfer credit on the student’s official
transcript. This does not affect the student’s GPA. If a student earns credit for a practice experience
(PE) course, he or she will also receive credit for the PE hours associated with that course because
they will be required to meet not only the course objectives, but also the practice experience objectives
when submitting the portfolio. All students should be aware of our academic eligibility requirements
which determine what percentage of a student’s program must be completed at American Sentinel:
1. Bachelor’s-level candidates for graduation must complete a minimum of 25 percent of their required
course work at American Sentinel (not through articulation or transfer credit).
2. Master’s-level candidates for graduation must complete a minimum of 50 percent of their required
course work at American Sentinel.
3. DNP level candidates for graduation must complete a minimum of 85% (36 semester credits) of
their required course work at American Sentinel. This does not include bridge courses required of
candidates without an MSN.
Ineligible Courses
No prior learning credit is accepted in the DNP or course-based competency MBA Healthcare program.
Additionally, students cannot complete an ELP for a capstone course in any program, BSN437PE
(Health Assessment), or for N522PE (Advanced Physical Assessment).
