COMPONENTS OF SUBMISSION: THREE
PARTS
Please use the guideline below; however, providing any additional information not covered here is
encouraged if you believe it will strengthen your application. We understand that your experience may
include information beyond the scope of this guideline. Your portfolio must include three main sections:
an objective sheet, prior experience essay, and documentation.
I. Objective Sheet
If you submit a portfolio, you will be required to submit a form that includes:
• Student Name
• Student ID Number
• Degree Program
• Title and Code of course for which you are pursuing credit
• Course Objectives
• Date of Submission
This form can be obtained from your student success advisor and will also list the course objectives.
Next to each objective, you will be asked to briefly summarize how you have met these outcomes.
II. Prior Experience Essay
The objective of this essay is to clearly explain the connections between your own experience and
the objectives of the course. It is very important to demonstrate a clear connection within the essay
between the artifacts you include and how they meet the course outcomes; it is essential to start with
a clear argument and provide detailed examples to back up your statement. Your essay must also
include theoretical concepts that link to the course objectives and reflect appropriate knowledge level.
The concepts must include appropriate references and citations. The written portion of the portfolio
should not exceed 30 pages.
