Beaker - A beaker is usually a flat-bottomed cylindrical
container. Most also have a small spout as shown in
the picture to help pour. Beakers are available in a
variety of sizes, ranging from one millilitre to several
litres. By having straight rather than sloping sides, a
beaker is distinguished from a flask.
Bunsen Burner - A Bunsen burner, named after Robert
Bunsen, is a common piece of laboratory equipment
producing a single open gas flame for heating,
sterilization, and combustion. The gas can be either
natural gas or liquefied petroleum gas, such as propane,
butane, or a combination of both.
Test Tube – A test tube is a common piece of
laboratory glassware consisting of a finger like length
of glass or clear plastic tubing, open at the top and
closed at the bottom. Test tubes are usually made of
glass or borosilicate and are mainly used in chemical
reactions and storing solutions during an experiment.
Test tubes are usually placed in special purpose racks.
Pipette - A pipette is a laboratory tool commonly
used in chemistry, biology and medicine to
transport a measured volume of liquid, often as
a media dispenser. It is made of glass or plastic
and is used in eye droppers, graduated pipette,
etc. It was patented in 1957 and has become the
most commonly used lab tools.
