A Message from Mayor Tom Schoaf
Once again it is time to review the State of our City. For those who were unable to attend the
January 19th State of the City presentation, a few highlights:
• The Historical Society continues to make significant progress on converting the La Loma Homestead
into its headquarters, along with building a new museum to house its vast collection of historic items.
• Development continues along Camelback at El Mirage Road with three new businesses already
opened, along with a future charter school. Construction of a free-standing emergency room, a
fast-food restaurant, an auto parts store and a mini-warehouse is imminent at Dysart.
• Our City Center development—featuring a large central park for enhanced community events—
is moving forward. We hope to break ground in 2019 on the first set of improvements for this
significant development.
• The Diamond Backs Foundation recently announced a gift to the City of a state-of-the-art baseball field to be built at the Camelback
entrance to the Villages. The field will honor the 100th birthday of Jackie Robinson.
• The entire State of the City presentation can be viewed on the City’s website at litchfield-park.org/613/State-of-the-City-Meetings.
Our shared vision for Litchfield Park has been stated by the Council as follows: Together, through responsible government and
citizen involvement, we will enhance the City of Litchfield Park while preserving the City's unique beauty, heritage and community
values fostered by our founder, Paul Litchfield.
Your Citizen Commissioners, Council and Staff worked diligently in 2018 to enhance and protect the unique community we call
home. We will continue these efforts to preserve our beauty, heritage and community values as we move forward in 2019. Please
