PENDULUM

APPLICATIONS
Monitoring of important works of civil engineering, dams in particular, appeal very widely to the safe and
sensitive device that are the classic pendulums or inverted (The wire is anchored in its bottom and
maintained in tension vertically by means of a complete immersed float filled with water.
The relative movements of the mobile extremity of the wire is measured by means of equipment which
includes in every case a measuring table fixed to a strong console solidly sealed in the concrete of the
civil work.
In case where local measures raise problems, it can be added to this pendulum table a telependulum
which allows to record remote measures.

1 – Direct pendulum
The direct pendulum consists of a thread anchored in a high point and a pendulum table fixed on a low
point of the structure. The thread anchor is tightened by a weight of which the oscillations are
weakened by a tub.

2 – Inverted pendulum
The assembly process is identical to the one which concerns the direct pendulum, the implementation
of a plumb line passing in the ring of the rod of the float allowing to seal exactly the consoles of the
table and the tank. The low point is realized by anchoring the bottom in a drilled borehole.
