Chapter 1: Introduction
7. Area Alarm Rough-In—The Area Alarm Rough-In Assembly provides
connections for field wiring to the power supply and connections for
transducer inputs to the Breakout P.C. Board. It is installed prior to the
drywall installation and finishing.
8. Area Alarm Front Panel—The Area Alarm Front Panel houses the Area
Alarm Modules and the Area Alarm Connector P.C. Board or Area Alarm
Network Communications Board. The panel consists of the finish trim
plate and hinged door assembly.
9. Area Alarm Module—Area Alarm Modules monitor signals from
pressure or vacuum transducers in the piping zones that serve anesthetizing
locations and other vital life support and critical care areas. They convert
these signals and display the actual pressure or vacuum in either English or
metric units, as specified by the customer.
When an alarm occurs, they provide both audible and visual indications to
notify the facility’s staff. When the Area Alarm Network Communications
Board is installed, the Area Alarm Modules also send the location, alarm
status, and pressure values to the Master Alarm Module where they are
displayed and the information is stored in memory.
10. Area Alarm Blank Module—An Area Alarm Blank Module reserves a
space for future Area Alarm Modules to be added.
11. Area Alarm Breakout P.C. Board—The Area Alarm Breakout P.C.
Board interfaces with transducer wiring, AC power, and an optional
auxiliary alarm. The Area Alarm Breakout P.C. Board is located in the
Area Alarm Rough-In.
12. Area Alarm Connector P.C. Board—The Area Alarm Connector P.C.
Board interfaces between the Area Alarm Modules and the Area Alarm
Breakout P.C. Board by using ribbon cables.
13. Area Alarm Network Communications Board—The Area Alarm
Network Communications Board provides the same functions as the Area
Alarm Connector P.C. Board, as well as, a connection to the facility’s
Ethernet. This connection provides optional communication to the Master
Alarm, which allows the Master Alarm to monitor the Area Alarm.
14. Local Alarm (Operating Alarm)—The Local Alarm monitors source
equipment and has individual alarm indicators for each input. It is usually
located in the equipment room.
