Introduction
Chapter 1: Introduction
15. Combination Alarm—The Combination Alarm consists of one of the
following: one 30-Point Master Alarm with three Area Alarm Modules, or
one 30-Point Master Alarm with six Area Alarm Modules. The 30-Point
Master Alarm with three Area Alarm Modules is the only alarm that cannot
communicate with a building automation system.
16. MedPlus TotalAlert™ Alarm Network Conversion Kits—The MedPlus
TotalAlert™ Alarm Network Conversion Kits have some electrical
components that are designed to mount inside various types and sizes of
existing alarm rough-in boxes (see table 1-16 on page 1-42). A surface-
mounted front panel conceals the rough-in boxes, protects the rough-in box
components, and houses the alarm modules.
The MedPlus TotalAlert™ Alarm Network Conversion Kits operate the
same as the original alarm network.
17. Transducer—Transducers connect to the supply piping with DISS gas-
specific demand valves and transmit the actual line pressure or vacuum to
the appropriate Area Alarm Module. All transducers are pressure tested to
NFPA 99 standards and cleaned for oxygen services.
18. Building Automation System (BAS)—A system used by some facility’s
to track the status of the building’s operating systems.
