„Das Restaurant“ in Berlin Grandma‘s goose from the master chef.
Markus Semmler is inevitably connected to gast- ronomy in the capital city. The 2-metre cook has been back in Berlin after several stops since 2011 and pampers gourmets in his restaurant, which is simply called „Das Restaurant“. There is a feeling of well-being, warm colours, art and dark wood. They make up the ambience. Next to the quiet di- ning room, there is a stylish smokers‘ lounge with very comfortable leather sofas.
Numerous awards
In 2015, he received the highly-anticipated Mi- chelin star and has so far successfully defended it. This award from the Michelin Guide distingu- ishes „high quality and freshness of ingredients“, „personal touch and creativity in the kitchen“ as well as „professional preparation“ and „consis- tency of kitchen service“. We like to describe it as a craft, instinct and consistency. In 2016, he was already voted Berlin‘s master chef for the second time.
Markus Semmler has been honoured with awards for 20 years. For example, in 1996 he was pro- nounced „Shooting Star of the Year“ and „Best Young Chef“; in 1998 and 2016 he became „Ber- lin‘s Master Chef“, and in 2000, he was awarded the „Gault Millau“ prize as „Restaurateur of the Year“.
Markus Semmler cooks classical with a very mo- dern touch and always at a very high level.
Versatility. From catering to gin.
He is also versatile; besides his restaurant, he runs the catering company „Kochkunst & Ereignis- se (Cookery & Events)“, which organises events from small group dinners to company events. This year, there is also gin, which the star cook has created with the Wöltingerode monastery. The speciality is the  nest pomace. Gin in its ori- ginal form.
Semmler has created a special gin menu with it of course. Let us introduce you to a classic from „The Restaurant“: the goose from Grandma‘s kit- chen. Even if the master cook claims not to be able to create the same taste of his grandmo- ther‘s goose, his traditional St Martin‘s Day goose is a true culinary delight and a must for Berlin‘s gourmets.
