Die Römer brachten die ersten Weinreben aus ihrer Heimat mit an die Ahr und p anzten sie an den Steilhängen. Insbesondere die Rotweine ha- ben Dank der rigorosen Qualitätsphilosophie der Winzer Weltruf und damit Höchstpreise erreicht. „Von nix kütt nix“, diesen rheinischen Spruch ha- ben die Winzer als Überschrift für ihre Arbeit ge- wählt. Der Erfolg gibt ihnen recht. Auszeichnungen wie „Rotwein des Jahres“, „Winzer des Jahres“, „Aufsteiger des Jahres“, gehen sehr häu g an die Ahr, Weine erzielen am Markt und bei Weinver- steigerungen Höchstpreise.

Sicher haben sich die Winzer im Lauf der Jahrzehnte durch den Einsatz von Tech- nik Erleichterung bei der Arbeit verschafft, aber Lastenaufzüge, Traubenrutschen, Stützmauern zur Sicherung der Hänge oder der Ausbau von Fahrwegen kosten viel Geld und das schlägt sich auf den Preis nieder. The prices for Ahr wines do not come about by chance. In the vineyards with a slope angle of up to 70 percent often only manual work is possible. It is true that over the decades the winegrowers have facilitated the work through the use of technology, but freight elevators, grape chutes, supporting walls to secure the slopes or the development of roads cost a lot of money and this is re ected in the price.
