There may also be clauses covering matters to do with health and safety,
benefits in kind, termination and so on. You can find out more and download

You must also give details of your disciplinary and grievance procedures, but this
can be separate. You can find more information about disciplinary and grievance
procedures on the ACAS website:

Rates of pay
From April 2018, the National Living Wage
(NLW) will be £7.83 an hour for workers aged
25 and older. The National Minimum Wage
(NMW) will still apply for workers aged 24
and under. It is important that the NLW and
NMW rules aren’t breached as there can be
some serious consequences if you do this.
You can find more information about the NLW and NMW by checking www.gov.
uk/national-minimum-wage-rates.
You can find illustrations of how the NLW and NMW rules apply to various
scenarios that you might come across with your personal assistant, for example
to do with travel time and sleeping in time, being on call or making deductions
from their pay for things that you have provided (such as a uniform), in the
‘Minimum wage’ section of our website:

Hours of work
Workers have the right to things like:
• Work no more than 48 hours per week on average,
unless they have opted out voluntarily in writing
• 11 hours consecutive rest in any 24 hour period and
one whole day off a week
• A rest break of at least 20 minutes for every six hours
worked.
You can find out more about working time in the Skills for Care toolkit:
