                                              Plant Name: Skullcap –

                                                            Scutellaria suffrutescens
                                              They are called “skullcap” because the flowers

                                              resemble miniature medieval helmets.


                                              Plant Size:  Grows up to 12-18” tall and 2-3’ wide.
                                              Evergreen/Deciduous: Herbaceous perennial

                                              Light Needs:  Partial to full sun

                                              Watering:   Water regularly during first growing season
                                              to establish the root system.

                                              Once established, it is drought tolerant.  Waterwise
                                              plant.

                                              Blooms: Blue-purple or pink flowers appear late spring
                                              to fall.

               Key feature:   Drought tolerant color, good for color in shade, compact form, easy
               care, heat loving, North American native, waterwise.

               Pruning:   Cut back to the ground at the end of the growing season.


               Care:   Remove spent flowers to encourage blooming.
