contemporary turns and leaps traveling across the floor. Students will also learn and explore
several components of choreography including the use of space, time, relationships, music,
emotion, and story. Students will have the opportunity to share their creative work during
informal showings to family and friends, and during Quest Connects community events

interesting choreography. Throughout the course, students will discover various approaches
to the art of improvisation, both as solo performers and in a group, dynamic incorporating
contact improv techniques. Improv is becoming an essential skill for serious, aspiring
dancers and it really can be exhilarating once you "let go", feel the music, and trust yourself to
explore new ways of movement! Students need dance attire and jazz or ballet
shoes. Students are required to simultaneously take another intermediate or advanced level
dance or acrobatic course. It is highly recommended to take the 30-minute Stretch & Strength

              • Ballet Technique and Beyond (Ages 13 & Up) - Students will refine a ballet barre focusing
on technique, fundamentals, strength and flexibility. This course is for intermediate students to
very advanced students. Combinations will range from basic to more advanced and some will
often be repeated so less advanced students can work towards achieving the skill and more
advanced students can master and perfect skills. In ballet, the body is the instrument and
proper technique is stressed and needs to be practiced and repeated. Students who attend
other studios are encouraged to attend and supplement their training. This course is based on
the R.A.D. syllabus, (Royal Academy of Dance Syllabus.). Amy Stahlman has an excellent
eye for refining technique as well as a large repertoire of classical ballet variation. Students
will also learn variations from the Nutcracker, Sleeping Beauty and Don Quixote to name a
few. Classical variations are very good for a student to have in their repertoire. They are
useful for auditions and performance. Students will have the opportunity to perform in several
Quest Connects, Fine Arts Festival and possibly the Christmas Gala. There are many
performance opportunities for this course! Instructor: Amy Stahlman Recommended Donation
                  of $12 per weekly session
