“Lumber prices have gone through the roof. Pun intended,”
deadpans Taylor. But his team once again focused on the needs
of the community, particularly as many of them found their
own families impacted by the fires.

“We made the decision as a team pretty early that we wanted to
help,” says Taylor. Taylored Elements quickly stepped up, taking on
many single-family dwellings along with a seventeen-unit apartment
complex and an eighteen-home townhouse project.

Navigating projects made up of multiple home owners, multiple insur-
ance companies, and a host of clean-up crews has proven to be a com-
plex challenge. “But what better way to help a quantity of people?” He
has found his role expanding from builder to educator as people work
through their need for a home and stability again. “It’s a trying time for
people,” and he is proud to be able to use his team’s skills and experi-
ence to get people moving forward again.

“One of the things I love about our company,” says Taylor, “we’ve cho-
sen to be more hands on.” With the many skills he has on his crew, they
are able to manage their project deadlines well as they balance their
team and subcontractor schedules. It also means they can personally
be on the jobsite more often to oversee the myriad details that go into
        home construction.

Communication and relationship are two key pillars of their process.
Each new build begins with a design contract that includes a compre-
hensive questionnaire to help each client prioritize their needs in a
new home, and their budget for the project. This process saves both
time and money. “When we get the plans right the first time,” he says,
“you get what you want, and no surprises.”

It’s knowledge that comes from practical experience. “I actually spent
years with my nail bags on,” he says, so he understands from the foun-
dation up what a construction project takes to complete it well. What
they know also includes who they know, and their long-time connec-
tions in the area often let them help clients find just the right home-
site or access building materials from suppliers that help them stay on
        schedule.
