hy do people join a gym? They want RESULTS! Why do people
Wquit going to the gym? One reason—they don’t get the results
they were hoping for. According to IHRSA (International Health,
Racquetball Health and Sportsclub Association), “50% of all new gym
members quit going within six months of their annual membership.”
With the constant social media barrage of fitness videos, images of
half-naked men and women flaunting their six-pack abs and newly
transformed bodies, and hashtags such as “#transformation,” “#before-
andafter,” and “#fitnessgoals, looking and feeling good becomes the
coveted badge of honor that one wants to wear.

THE 1ST FACTOR: FOOD INTAKE/DIET
The word “diet” simply refers to the amount and type of food an indi-
vidual consumes. Food provides energy (calories) as well as nutrients
(vitamins and minerals). The amount and type of food in your diet will

THE 2ND FACTOR: MOVEMENT
Movement, or exercise, burns calories and provides countless health
benefits, and exercise is not just about resistance/weight training (to

ing (to help increase caloric expenditure). Depending on your goals,
