They are already producing wine, says Delando Pegan, one of
the owners, and had a grand opening for the newly renovated
tasting room. An onsite bed and breakfast just opened, perfect
for Britt Festival goers and Jacksonville tourists. Rellik guests
can walk trails by the property’s pond. A planned expansion will
seat about 100 people to enjoy wine and tapas-style food. At that
point, Rellik plans an even grander opening.
After working with several local wineries, Brian Denner and Clea
Arthur opened Simple Machine last year in downtown Talent, a grow-
ing and flourishing community. The name and the corrugated metal
building complement each other satisfactorily. Awen Winecraft is also
new to town.
Pheasantbrook Vineyards at Bayer Family Estate is is another one new
on the scene. There you can drink wine, nibble, play beanbag toss with
your kids, and sometimes eat in the arena while nearby (barricaded)
horses look on. Just over a year new, Irvine & Roberts winery’s tasting
room in Ashland is lovely inside and out.
Winding your way through construction in Roseburg’s historic down-
town is worth it to find Trella Vineyards Tasting Room, an inviting,
intimate space in a 1908 building with its original brick walls. Folks
can taste wine, munch on nuts, cheese and charcuterie, with five des-
serts to top it off. They’ve been open since July and have already hosted
