Globalization and Trade and Industry Program (GTIP)

The Globalization and Trade and Industry Program aims to sharpen the
Philippine new industrial policy and trade strategy. DTI’s policy formulation
process will be strengthened by focusing on three key areas consisting of
Trade Studies, Industry Level Analysis, and Review of Horizontal Issues.

The E-Commerce Initiative (TECI)
The TECI project involves e-commerce-focused activities and efforts on
MSME development, policy development and industry engagement, and
advocacy, as well as the implementation of the Philippine E-Commerce
Roadmap 2016-2022. It is expected to promote the growth of e-commerce
in the country, nurture the e-commerce ecosystem, and enhance engage-
ment with MSMEs, industry and stakeholders

DTI Innovation Center

The DTI seeks to establish the DTI Innovation Center to support SME
development by fostering innovation. The Center shall be the crucible for
research and innovation that will provide SMEs with actual research to
address real competitiveness and innovation problems faced by Philippine
industries especially micro and small enterprises such as (1) raw materials,
(2) process, (3) new product, (4) marketing, and (5) packaging. It shall be
managed initially by the DTI and will be supported by an Innovation
Network composed of representatives from the academe, industry,
Department of Science and Technology (DOST) and other R&D institutions.

National Quality Infrastructure

The enactment of the National Quality Infrastructure Act will be pushed,
however, pending the passage, a Department Order for CIAP, PAB, and the
Standards Development Division of BPS to be transferred to the
Industry/Policy Group is necessary. The objective is to harmonize and
strengthen the National Quality Infrastructure (NQI), and lead coordination
of NQI TWG on standards as well as lead advocacy on enhancing DTI
capacity for implementation of technical regulations and standards
including the development of promo NQI collaterals.
