E. Safety

As shown in Figure 2, the bone mill is equipped with a failsafe interlocking safety switch, mounted
in front of the motor frame. Additionally a light and an on/off switch provided on the side of the bone
mill, see Figure 1.
• Green light indicates that the safety cap is properly installed and it is safe to operate the mill.
• Orange light indicates “caution”, full power applied to the motor and do not attempt to
remove the Safety cap.
F. The safety measures
1. As the first measure of safety, the bone mill becomes operative only when the blade and the
safety cap are installed and secured.
2. As the second measure of safety, the movement of the interlocking switch senses the presence
of the blade and the safety cap. The interlocking switch is actuated as the side cams pull in
the safety cap which in turn moves the blade against the interlocking switch.
The motor becomes inoperative under the following conditions:
a) Absence of the blade. (Without the blade installed fingers could possibly reach the
rotating rotor from underneath.)
