4: It’s Good To Be Human
No one really likes someone who is perfect, or even someone who
comes across as perfect. That’s why it’s okay to make mistakes on
camera.
If you are nervous or if you do something wrong, just acknowledge
it and move on. For example, you drop something you were
showing the viewer. Laugh, pick it up, make a joke about your
nerves or your butterfingers or whatever, and move on. It’s a funny
thing when we can admit to the audience that we are human and
can laugh at our own foibles – the audience begins to like us more,
and they root for us, too.
I even know people who purposely make a mistake or do
something clumsy, just so they can get the audience on their side.
It’s a truly effective technique when done right.
