Reading Skills Development
There are 3 phases or stages of developing your reading skills, which phase 1 is to eliminate
habits that decrease reading speed/comprehension, phase 2 is to increase your reading speed,
and phase 3 is to increase your comprehension.
Phase 1
“To eliminate habits that decrease reading speed/comprehension”. This phase is the initial
phase that focuses on getting rid of any habits that will affect your understanding of the
information and slow down your reading speed. For example; when people have to read their
contact from their company or contact their new job, they may read “aloud” or read the word with
the sound from their mouth or whisper and move their mouth in order to help them understand
more of the contact. But this is the habit that can slow down your reading and miss understanding.
The reason is due to the stage of information analysis composed of three analysis channels; visual,
voice acoustic, meaning. When people read, many of them always read in a traditional reading
way which is reading with 3 analysis channels to visualize the picture and word then read
aloud(acoustic voice) then they can understand the meaning of the word which will slow down
the reading process a lot. While the better way of reading is speed reading 2 analysis channels
from, visual to meaning without reading aloud (voice acoustic). This speed reading will eliminate
