Parkside Football Club 1897/2017
The second quarter was Parkside's with vice-captain Michael Camrnerino at full forward leading the
way as his team notched up 6.3 to Yarraville's three straight goals to give the Magpies a seven-point
advantage at the long break.
The Tigers came out of the blocks like Jesse Owens in the third term to rattle the Magpies by kicking
long and running onto the ball and most importantly, kicking accurately in the 50-metre zone to
notch up 5.4 to Parkside's 2.1. and to look at a scoreboard showing Yarraville13.5 (83), Parkside 10.9
(69).
In repeat of the third term beginning, Yarraville set a blistering pace and had the Magpies reeling
once their 6.5 for the quarter came in the first 16 minutes or so before Parkside lifted their game as
the Tigers eased the foot off the accelerator, allowing the opposition to score in the dying minutes
to flatter their performance.
Captain Jason Albon's ruck work, supplying his on-ballers with first grab of the ball won him the
Herbert Pascarl medal.
Another outstanding player for Yarraville was Russell Asani, while Michael Cammerino and Nick
Kotoski did well for Parkside.
The reserves match was a dour struggle, with Yarraville ultimately getting on top with a string of
goals late in thefinal quarter. Best players for Yarraville were Balasopoulos, Puopolo and Ramsay.
