Parkside Football Club 1897/2017

               Port Colts didn't panic.

Centre half-forward Peter Matthews finally got his radar right — kicking two quick goals after six
               straight behinds.

The second came as Parkside champ Dennis Ryan was 'sin binned' after being reported for striking.

The Magpies had crash-landed. It was a game where the Borough big guns fired.

Centre half-back Jason Smith continued to enhance his reputation as one of the competition's finest
               players with another sizzling display.

He lives to play in grand finals.

It's now four (premierships) out of four (grand finals) for the star No. 4 — two with Springvale in the
old VFA and now back-to-back flags' with Port Colts.

Parkside wingman Nick Kotoski played the game of his life to win the prestigious Herb Pascarl Medal
for the player adjudged best on ground by the field umpires Paul Saville and Adrian O'Donnell.

                                           Three-year-old Parkside fan Holly Fahey

Sunshine sporting ace Michael "Tocka" O'Keefe is a class act.

The Parkside captain was hurting. His high-flying Magpies had crash-landed — completely over- run
by Port Colts in the last quarter of Saturday's first division grand-final at Yarraville.

The loss had stung. So, too, did O'Keefe's ankle — a legacy of his fearless approach in the afternoon.
