Within the stunning grounds of the castle, there are two mazes, the
yew maze and the children’s splashing water maze, the latter was
created in the late 1990s. There is also a
children’s playground.
You can take a woodland walk around the
lake or hire a row boat.
The castle has 2 restaurants or if you prefer a picnic, there are plenty
of beautiful areas to pitch a blanket and relax or play ball games.
There is a gift shop selling all things Tudor, and a plant and herb
shop.
The castle hosts yearly events like jousting and archery with re-
enactments and people dress up in Tudor style clothes.
There is a luxury 5* bed and
breakfast located in the Edwardian
Astor and Anne Boleyn wing,
attached to the back of the castle.
You can hire the castle for corporate
events or weddings set in front of
the beautiful lake.
I just love telling people about it and I hope you’ll fall under its spell
just the way I did many many years ago. Don’t tell me you are not
tempted!
