The writings of Greek and Roman travelers
It represents travelers who visited Egypt, such as Herodotus,
Diodor of Sicily, and Plutarch, they visited it between the end of
the sixth century BC. Until the second century AD, they could not
be relied upon to a great extent because they visited Egypt during
periods of weakness and did not witness its times of glory. They
also relied on narrations, which they did not investigate and verify
their credibility. They also wrote history from their point of view
and mentality and not according to the Egyptian mentality.
Contemporary civilizations
It means civilizations contemporary to the Egyptian civilization,
such as the Babylonian, Assyrian, Phoenician, Hittite, and Greek,
but they must be compared to the Egyptian sources, where there
was sometimes a contradiction in some events, such as battle
victories. Sometimes each side recorded its victory on its traces
to be proud of its strength, as happened during the reign of
Ramesses II who recorded his victory over the Hittites, and the
