Sources for writing Egyptian history
Historians of ancient Egyptian history relied on four sources to
record the events of history (antiquities, writings of Greek and
Roman travelers, contemporary civilizations, and holy books).
1- Antiquities
It represents an important factor among the traditional sources
and it is considered the most reliable. It represents the written and
unwritten heritage left behind by Egyptian civilization, including
temples such as temples of the Old, Middle and New Kingdom,
and the Greco-Roman eras, pyramids such as the pyramids of the
Old and Middle Kingdom and the First Intermediate Age, tombs
(individuals, kings and queens). ), obelisks, papyrus documents,
paintings, coffins, prayers, battle pins such as the Pin of Narmer
and the Scorpion King, and other relics bearing the creations of
the ancient Egyptian, such as myths and stories.
