Fifth Dynasty: The priests of Ra found the opportunity in this
dynasty to rule the country after the rebellion carried out by
Shepseskare against the worship of Ra. This dynasty was
distinguished by eliminating the great differences and barriers
between the kings and the leaders of the state. This dynasty also
witnessed great development in the arts.

1- Userkaf: The founder of the Fifth Dynasty. He married
Khentykaus (last queen ruled in 4th dynasty) to reach
power and to find legitimacy for himself and his children
after him. He created a legend whose events date back to
the era of Khufu. It was called “Khufu and the Magicians,”
recorded in the Westkar Papyrus. He wanted to prove with
this story that the kings of this dynasty possessed
legitimacy. Because they were sons of the god Ra, and
therefore the so-called sun temples appeared in this
dynasty, which they built in Abu Sir and Abu Ghurab.
