neither coulde they haue any shame: therefore

finde rest for your soules: but they saide, We sayeth the Lord of hostes, the God of Israel,
Amend your waies and your woorkes, and I will
will not walke therein. 17 Also I set watchmen 4
ouer you, which said, Take heede to the sound let you dwell in this place. Trust not in lying
of the trumpet: but they said, We will not take woordes, saying, The Temple of the Lord, the

thou Congregation knowe, what is among them. Lord. For if you amende and redresse your waies
19 Heare, O earth, beholde, I will cause a plague and your woorkes: if you execute iudgement be-
                                                                                                  6
to come vpon this people, euen the fruite of their tweene a man and his neighbour, And oppresse
owne imaginations: because they haue not taken not the stranger, the fatherlesse and the widow
heede vnto my woordes, nor to my Lawe, but and shed no innocent blood in this place, neither
                                                                                                          7
cast it off. 20 To what purpose bringest thou walke after other gods to your destruction, Then
mee incense from Sheba, and sweete calamus will I let you dwell in this place in the lande
from a farre countrey? Your burnt offerings are that I gaue vnto your fathers, for euer and euer.
not pleasant, nor your sacrifices sweete vnto me. 8 Beholde, youtrust inlyingwoordes, thatcannot
21 Therefore thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, I will profite. 9 Will you steale, murder, and commit
laie stumbling blockes before this people, and adulterie, and sweare falsely and burne incense
the fathers and the sonnes together shall fall vnto Baal, and walke after other gods whome yee

perish. 22 Thus sayeth the Lord, Beholde, a people in this House, whereupon my Name is called, and
commeth from the North countrey, and a great saye, We are deliuered, though we haue done all

23 With bowe and shield shall they be weaponed: denne of theeues, whereupon my Name is called
they are cruell and will haue no compassion: before your eyes? Beholde, euen I see it, sayeth
their voyce roareth like the sea, and they ride the Lord. 12 But go ye nowe vnto my place
vpon horses, well appointed, like men of warre which was in Shilo, where I set my Name at the
against thee, O daughter Zion. 24 We haue heard beginning, and beholde, what I did to it for the
their fame, and our handes waxe feeble sorrowe wickednesse of my people Israel. 13 Therefore
is come vpon vs, as the sorrowe of a woman in nowe because yee haue done all these woorkes,
trauaile. 25 Goe not foorth into the fielde, nor sayeth the Lord, (and I rose vp earely and spake
walke by the way: for the sword of the enemie vnto you: but when I spake, yee would not heare
and feare is on euery side. 26 O daughter of my me, neither when I called, would yee answere).
people, girde thee with sackecloth, and wallowe 14 Therefore will I do vnto this House, wherupon
thy selfe in the ashes: make lamentation, and my Name is called, wherein also yee trust, euen
bitter mourning as for thine onely sonne: for vnto the place that I gaue to you and to your
the destroier shall suddenly come vpon vs. 27 I fathers, as I haue done vnto Shilo. 15 And I will
haue set thee for a defence and fortresse among cast you out of my sight, as I haue cast out all
my people, that thou maiest knowe and trie their your brethren, euen the whole seede of Ephraim.
16 Therfore thou shalt not pray for this people,
