News from Recreation and Parks

With the 2018 World Cup in full swing, so is the 2018 HCRP
Summer Adult Open Soccer League. Games are played
on Mondays starting at 6:30PM at Allens Creek
Park. (photo attached)

Pickleball continues to be extremely popular with open
play held on Mondays and Wednesday from 9-12PM at
the Old Hazelwood Gym. Totals for FY 18 are 1011
participations and $2464 revenue collected.

Registration for the 2018 North Carolina State Senior
Games runs through August 1 . (photo attached)

HCRP’s 2018-19 Recreation Basketball League registration
will open October 1st. We need coaches and welcome
grandparents!

Base Camp on the Go continues to offer free fun,
recreational opportunities for kids throughout the county.
HCRP coordinates with the Town of Waynesville to bring
two hours of active recreation and outdoor education to
multiple areas across the county. HCRP is responsible for
Mondays at Jonathan Valley Elementary and
Wednesdays at the Fines Creek Community Center. Base
Camp on the Go has drawn over 100 kids in two weeks!
