Haywood County Meals on Wheels and volunteers help raise $11,000 for the
program during the 2018 Horse Show Charity Fundraiser Event – July 20-21.
Haywood County Meals on Wheels Volunteer Appreciation Event in August brings a
crowd. 60+ volunteers were appreciated during the annual event so HHSA staff could
thank them with a meal, a new program t-shirt, and many donated gifts from local
businesses. An annual training was also included within the program. We thank the
following for providing a raffle gift during the event. Panacea Coffee, Nettie’s Bakery,
Bogarts, Pink Regalia, John’s Barber Shop, The Strand, Nu-Way Cleaners, Blue Ridge Books,
Sliver Treasures, J. Gabriel Home & Gifts, Robin Blu, Twigs & Leaves, The Kitchen Store. Meals
on Wheels Staff include: Kirk Long, Ellen Frizzell, Matthew Little, Chelsea Reece, and Steffie
Duginske. M.O.W volunteers deliver food all over the county 5 days a week throughout the
year to mostly senior individuals who struggle to prepare their own meals due to health
conditions and aging. If you would like to become a Meals on Wheels volunteer, contact
Program Supervisor Steffie Duginske at 828-356-2442.
