Happy Fall Y’all! It seems like we have endured the hottest
summer ever here in sunny South Florida. The reward is the
cooler temperatures and beautiful breezes we are beginning to
experience. We also have the anticipation of the holiday season
when so many of us enjoy time with our families and friends.
While I do not enjoy being the bearer of sad news, I feel
compelled to remind everyone that with all this joy comes the
threat of the flu and virus season as well.

So, once again, I refer you to the Blue Zones style of living. If
you have not subscribed to the Blue Zones emails, I would
encourage you to do so for the Winter Season. To subscribe visit
www.bluezones.com I recently enjoyed another helpful article
on the five ways to build a better immune system. Invest a few
moments to check if you need to concentrate on any of the
                                      following:

                                          1. Get enough sleep, we should aim for 7-8 hours a night.

                                          2. Eat your vegetables and other plant-based foods. Making
your meal around veggies not only helps your immune
system but wards against many different diseases.

                                          3. Lower your stress. Some stress is good for your immune
system, but you need to keep it in check. As soon as
you go from feeling confident to overwhelmed, you
have entered the “not so good” stress zone. This is
different for everyone, so do not compare yourself to
others, pay attention to your own challenges and how
                                                 they are making you feel.

                                          4. EXERCISE REGULARLY and keep moving! (We can help
                                                 you with this one.)

                                          5. Do not smoke. If this is a battle you are still facing, you
have more options than ever to help you quit. Speak to
your doctor today. It is never too late to quit.
