Finely enamelled with dragons writhing
amongst flaming clouds and vying for pearls
above foaming waves, with a central tablet
with an inscription. 39cm (15 3/8in) high

The inscription reads: 大英国欽命江西九江領
事府倭大人德政. Which can be translated as:
‘England, by Imperial order, Jiujiang prefecture
of Jiangxi province foreign affairs consul Wo,
printed by Ren Ting, virtuous government’.
It is likely the plaque was given to a foreign
diplomat, likely English, as a gift.

WHITE ‘HUNDRED BATS’ BOTTLE VASE
Circa 1800
The elegantly potted vase painted and
enamelled with bats swooping amongst finely
scrolling clouds and above foaming waves,
the wide mouth with a key-fret and lappet
border, the short foot with a classic scroll
motif, the base with an apocryphal Kangxi six-
character mark, wood stand.

The globular body with roundels enclosing
groups of Precious Objects and birds and
flowers, the shoulder with another floral
border, all reserved on a diaper ground, the
shoulder with an applied chilong modelled in
