An open salt [previous illustration] in
the form of a stylised basket resting
upon a stylised bamboo stand. The
original pale green liner with ribbed
bottom is still intact.
These circa 1910 teaspoons are
typical of the style DAIK GE used on
cutlery in general; the sugar spoon
[below right] being another example.
DAIK GE pieces of the early 20th
century almost all had a slight
influence of the “arts & crafts”
movement style about them.
Illustrated right, a circa 1910 pickle fork. The use of the stylised
bamboo stem seems to be almost a standard as is the use of a
tapered cartouche-shaped terminal incorporating a foliate decorative
motif.
The indication is that DAIK GE was probably a small artisan
workshop that had a very distinctive style.
