Chinese silver calls almost always have a dragon emblazoned upon it, with the head forming the whistle bulb.!

Despite the dragon appearing as a constant, it is obvious that
each order had specific requests that made each item bespoke to
its owner. For this reason, one often finds female names engraved
on the blade of the pipe.

Chinese silver Bosun’s pipes tend to command
high values at auction; $6000 is common.
