The tea service [above] carries a date of 1930 and appears to have been made by a small artisan workshop by
            the manner the Margrett mark has been hand engraved. The style is an interesting melange of Thai, 1930’s and a
            hint of the neo-classical.





                                                           Pictured  left  is  a  detail  from  a  rather  grand  kettle  in  the
                                                           Thai style.  The kettle appears to have been parcel gilded,
                                                           probably at a later stage than when it was first made.

                                                           Although it perhaps was not originally sold my Margrett
                                                           [hence the lack of a Margrett mark], a letter exists signed
                                                           by  Frank  Margrett  explaining  that  parcel  gilding  on  this
                                                           piece  denotes  it  was  only  meant  to  be  used  in  the
                                                           presence  of  royalty.  The  letter  leaves  an  impression
                                                           Margrett carried out the gilding since it states that the last
                                                           time the kettle had been used was at a visit of HM King
                                                           Rama VI at a visit to Pattani
