Fiddle shell marrow scoops

An extraordinary amount of high quality silver flatware in the “Georgian” style was produced in Canton and it is
actually difficult to fathom whether one particular workshop was creating it for retail silversmiths in Canton.
Apart from the previously mentioned WE WE WC, identical items to those carrying the “P” mark can be found
under the Sun Shing mark, a retail silversmith we know operated in New China Street which was situated
alongside the original “13 Hongs” compound outside of the city walls at Canton. Sun Shing, for example, sold
marrow scoops and below is an example of a dessert fork bearing the Sun Shing mark.

Research is now ongoing to physically inspect museum collections that contain these items in order in an
endeavour to clarify whether they might have all emanated from a single workshop.
