recorded  that  they  physically  came  from  China  or  Hong  Kong.  There  was,  however,  a  significant  Chinese
            population  in  Penang,  but  whether  there  were  any  silversmiths  among  them  is  not  yet  known.  Alongside
            Pritchard & Company was the well-known Whiteway, Laidlaw & Company department store.

                                                                                    While  the  decoration  of  the
                                                                                    bowl  is  undoubtedly
                                                                                    Chinese,  the  style  of  the
                                                                                    bowl  is  not  typical  -  A
                                                                                    similar  Chinese  Export
                                                                                    Silver  bowl  would  likely
                                                                                    have a collet foot.
