            A little-known silversmith operating in Nanking








            The  box  carries  a  verse  from
            the  poem  Qiusheng  fu
            [Rhapsody of Autumn Sounds]
            -  one  of    Xiu  Ouyang’s  most
            popular  and  highly  regarded
            poems  that  was  intended  as
            lyrics.  There  are  various
            melodies  for  the  poem
            attributed  to  different  periods
            from  the  late  16th  century
            through to the Qing Dynasty.

            The  poem  dates  to  circa  late
            16th century.

            The poem is often used as the
            subject for calligraphy.
