The lotus-form bowl [previous illustration]
has been exquisitely made and has a
particularly unusual flared and fret worked
base. The bowl carries an engraved
inscription that dates it to 1909 and
Canton.
Both pairs of candlesticks are each
superb in their own way. What is
consistent in Sing Fat silver wares is a
sensitive attention to detail and quality
and often a novel approach to what could
be a mundane object.
This tiny circa 1930 sewing etui, plain though it is, actually has
a tremendous amount of work in it to achieve the planished
finish and the almost engineered bobbin column.
