TU MAO XING
Jiǔjiāng, Jiangxi Province
circa 1880-1930
Tu Mao Xing was discovered in the 1980’s and was wrongly identified as Kan Mao Hsing.
The error seems to be a simple and probably understandable mistaking of the character which transliterates
correctly as TU with the character which correctly transliterates as KAN [GAN]. The result of that error has
been to relegate Tu Mao Xing into virtual obscurity and to attribute most of his work to a maker who simply does
not exist! There was no such maker or retailer as Kan Mao Hsing. See article: http://chinese-export-silver.com/?
