WING CHUN [AKA: WANG CHUN]
            25 & 58 Stanley Street, Hong Kong
            circa 1860-1915

Wing Chun was a retail silversmith with an eye for quality and style that is obvious from items bearing the Wing
Chun silver mark. Hong Kong, in the latter third of the 19th century, was a very competitive location for any
Chinese silversmith; to be successful in, let alone survive - innovative ways had to be found.

The detailing of the reticulated bowl [above] is extraordinary - the interwoven decorative motifs appear as three
dimensional as a result of the skilful working of the silver. The free-form rimless top adds to the overall
            dramatic effect.
