                                                                                                        The stone is of dark purplish-brown color, and carved with tall
                                                                                                        bamboo, pine and prunus trees (the ‘Three Friends of Winter’),
                                                                                                        which are interrupted in the center by the circular grinding surface.

                                                                                                        19TH CENTURY

                                                                                                        Of dark purplish-brown color, the D-shaped inkstone is carved on
                                                                                                        the top with swirling and crashing waves around the irregularly-
                                                                                                        shaped well and grinding surface.
