Each carved in low relief in the Ming style with peony flower sprays
in black lacquer, reserved on a wan symbol and triangular diaper
ground respectively.

A SILVER-GILT VELVET PURSE AND A SMALL CINNABAR
LACQUER BOX AND COVER
17th/18th century and 18th/19th century
The purse of lobed cloud-form decorated with qilin and phoenix
amongst foliage surrounded with borders of crustacea and fish, the
reverse with a silk-embroidered velvet panel; the circular box and
cover carved in low relief with a scholar seated under a pine tree, the
sides and box base with a wan-symbol diaper.
The purse: 14cm (5 1/2in) high (2).

A CARVED CINNABAR LACQUER OCTAGONAL ‘DRAGON’
VASE, COVER AND STAND
Late Qing Dynasty
Each side finely carved in low relief with a writhing dragon amidst
wispy ruyi-head clouds between lappets, the foot with key-fret border
and neck with diaper pattern, the domed cover with lotus-bud finial
and carved with blooming lotus, the eight-legged stand similarly
carved with foliate scrolls. 76cm (30in) high. (3).
