FOUR LACQUERED-WOOD NETSUKE
18th to 19th century
The first a seated hare with a leveret clambering onto its back,
lacquered in Negoro style, signed Kogyoku, 3.9cm (1 9/16in); the
second a formalised seagull, lacquered in Negoro style, unsigned,
4.2cm (1 5/8in); the third a red lacquer bottle and stopper carved with
trailing stylised foliage, unsigned, 4.5cm (1¾in); the fourth a tsuishu
(carved red lacquer) netsuke of double-gourd form with a silver stopper
and ring himotoshi, unsigned, 5cm (2in) high. (4).
