Decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt and modeled as a tea storage
jar, the cover and shoulder molded with a draped floral brocade cloth and
tasseled ties, the body painted with a variety of archaic Chinese vessels and
the foot with a band of lappets containing chrysanthemum scrolls, with a
lengthy inscription on the underside describing the virtues of this vase and
signed and with impressed signature Kasuya and with the Shimazu Family
mark

The large baluster vase with a rolled lip and painted in polychrome enamels
and gilt with two large panels of doves and pheasants in blossoming
flowers, and roosters, hens, and chicks in a bamboo grove, each panel
bordered by floral lozenges, the cobalt ground decorated with leafy vines
and berries painted in gilt with highlights in red and yellow raised in relief,
signed in gilt Kinkozan tsukuru
