           Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century
           Each decorated in polychrome enamels and gilt, the
           bowl decorated rectangular and cardioid-shaped panels
           of beauties and attendants enjoying outings in various
           locations, the surrounding areas decorated with scrolling
           floral vines on a green stippled ground, signed in a
           floret-shaped reserve Taniguchi sei; the globular incense
           burner densely painted with blossoming plum branches,
           the tripod feet and neck finished with chrysanthemum
           scroll, the domed cover pieced with floret shaped
           openings and painted on the rim with key frets, signed
           in gilt Nanbu Fujisan

           Meiji era (1868-1912), late 19th century
           Of baluster form fitted with a silvered cover pierced
           with chrysanthemum petals and finished with a floral
           finial and decorated in colored enamels and gilt, one
           jar painted with quail and millet, and bamboo and
           chrysanthemums within lobed reserves, the surrounding
           area with a stylized iris pattern, the shoulder and foot
           painted with interlocking floral lozenges and cherry-
           blossom reserves, the other jar with a continuous design
           of floral scroll, the shoulder and foot painted with floral
           lozenges and lappets, and fan-shaped floral reserves
           9 3/4in (24.7cm) high

           Each painted in polychrome enamels and gilt, the
           faceted vase decorated with two panels of people
           enjoying a Spring outing, and beauties in an interior,
           the cobalt ground painted with blossoms, signed in
           gilt Satsuma Hododa and with the Shimazu family
           mark; the incense burner decorated with beauties and
           children, warriors and elegantly dressed gentlemen,
           below a cloud band with the Shimazu family mark, the
           cover pierced with floral sprays and painted with the
           Shimazu family mark on a ground of tightly coiled vines,
           the feet decorated with floral scroll, signed in gilt Nanbu
           sei
