                                                             two courtiers, the exterior decorated with alternating panels of scholars,
                                                             ascetics, and Chinese children, all against and floral and gilt-stippled
                                                             ground, the rim with flower-petal panels of geometric patterns and a key-fret
                                                             band, signed in gilt Meizan

                                                             Painted in polychrome enamels and gilt, the shallow lobed incense burner
                                                             set on four scroll feet with scenes of beauties, courtiers and birds and
                                                             flowers, the edges decorated with a floral lozenge band, the pierced cover
                                                             formed as a chrysanthemum, signed in gilt Kinzan; the rectangular jardinière
                                                             decorated with blossoming chrysanthemums and clouds, the surrounding
                                                             areas painted with a geometric ground, fitted with gilt-metal mounts with
                                                             dragon handles
